Although Hundertwasser first became well-known for his boldly-colored paintings, he is more widely known for his individual architectural designs. Where did he get his ideas for the buildings? He often painted his ideas and eventually they became part of his plans. What are some interesting things that you see in this building design?

Ecology and fantasy were very important in his works and he created his buildings in a way that nature and human beings could live together, including having live trees in and on the rooftops of his buildings as well as uneven floors.

In his architectural work Hundertwasser replaced monotony with variety, and the grid system with the organic and non-regulated irregularities.
